Eagles And Pirates Sectional Champs! Chargers And Cougars Fall Short!

Congrats to The Jac-Cen-Del Eagles and The Greensburg Pirates on winning their respective Sectional Crowns!

The Jac-Cen-Del Eagles upset the host South Decatur Cougars 39-35 to win their 12th Sectional Championship and their first since winning The State Title in 2009.  JCD improves to 8-15 on the season and will advance to The Class 1A Martinsville Regionals on Saturday, March 9th to battle The Clay City Eels.  CC captured The Sectional 57 Crown by defeating the host White River Wolverines 44-42.  The Eagles and The Eels will play Game Two of The Regionals starting around Noon.  By the way, JCD beat CC in Game One of The Martinsville Regionals back in ’09.  Game One will start at 10 with The University Trailblazers against The Baptist Academy Chargers.  SD’s season comes to and with a 15-7 record. 

The Greensburg Pirates sailed on to their 2nd straight Sectional Title and 38th overall with a 69-52 victory over The Madison Cubs.  The 3A #2 Pirtaes improve their season mark to 22-1 and will advance to The 3A Washington Regionals to square off against The #5 Evansville Bosse Bulldogs.  EB defeated The Mount Vernon Wildcats 81-62 to claim The Sectional 32 Title.  That will be Game One starting at 10.  Game Two will feature The #4 Brownstown Central Braves going up against the Vincennes Lincoln Alices. The Cubs season ends with a 11-11 mark.

The Switzerland County Pacers defeated The North Decatur Chargers 62-52 to win The Sectional 45 Crown.  The Pacers go to 18-4 on the season and will play in The 2A Regionals at Southridge against The #13 Perry Central Commodores starting at 11.  Game Two will be #10 The Linton-Stockton Miners clashing with The #8 Clarksville Generals.  ND finishes up the year at 6-17.

The Columbus North Bulldogs won The Sectional 14 Championship on their home court with a 65-56 victory over The Bloomington South Panthers.  The #3 CN will play at The Regionals in Seymour taking on The Franklin Central Flashes starting at 10 followed by The #4 Evansville Harrison Warriors vs. the #13 Jeffersonville Red Devils.
