A community awareness drug presentation will be given at South Ripley High School
South Ripley School Corporation in conjunction with the South Ripley Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) Chapter will be hosting a community informational meeting about heroin use. It will be Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m.
The program is presented by Dr. Mann Spitler. Dr. Spitler, and his wife, Phyllis, lost their 20-year-old daughter, Manda, when she injected herself with a lethal dose of heroin.
Since that time, Dr. Spitler has told Manda’s story to every public and private group that has invited him to speak, including Batesville High School.
The purpose of verbally detailing her addiction and subsequent death is to help prevent drug abuse and addiction. Dr. Spitler believes that Manda’s Story can help the students and the community protect themselves. It also helps the parents to take specific actions needed to help protect their own children. Manda’s Story has the power to change life-threatening behavior and Dr. Spitler is committed to telling it.
This awareness program is FREE to the public and will be held at the South Ripley High School auditeria. The following day Dr. Spitler will give his presentation to the South Ripley students in grades 7th – 12th.
If you have any questions, please contact Officer Dan Goris, the School Resource Officer for South Ripley School Corporation by calling him at the high school – 689-5303.
