Harvey Earl Borgman, age 89, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013 at his home in Napoleon, IN. Born at home on April 26, 1923 to Louis and Emma Elizabeth (Tressler) Borgman near Napoleon, IN. Harvey married Frances Luchte on November 4, 1950.
Harvey was in WWII with the U.S. Army 1st Infantry Division as a Corporal serving in France, Belgium and Germany. Harvey worked for Straber Oil Company for 43 years and became known as the ‘smiling oil man,’ always dedicated to his customers. After that he worked part time for Aggregate Trucking and Excavating. He was a former member of the Napoleon Volunteer Fire Department and past Treasurer as well. Harvey loved music and gardening, raising vegetables and fruits, always willing to share his bounty with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Frances, daughters and their husbands, Patricia & Thomas Peetz of Batesville, Marilyn & Roger Horan of Greensburg and Sheryl & Bill Ziegler of Columbus, IN; grandchildren, Rick, Steven and Clair Peetz, Christina, Craig and Melissa Horan; Brandon and Allison Ziegler, step-granddaughter Nicole Lehr; 2 great grandsons Abraham and Aaron Peetz. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.
Visitation, Wednesday, March 6, 2013 from 8:30am until time of the funeral service at 11:00am all at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville, IN. Sr. Shirley Gerth officiating with burial to follow in the St. Maurice Catholic Cemetery, Napoleon, IN with military graveside services.
Memorials may be given to St. Maurice Church Building Fund, Napoleon Volunteer Fire Dept Hospice or American Heart Association.
