Soccer Coach for the Fall 2012 season. Candidate
must have experience coaching soccer, preferably

OA's home boys game on Saturday (2-11) vs.
Edinburgh has now been moved to Edinburgh High
School.
Start time will be 1:00 for JV and 2:30 for

The 7th grade lady Bulldogs basketball team
earned its 5th win of the year by defeating Mt.
Carmel 46 to 22.
Leading the Dogs in scoring was Sylvia Phillips
who had 17 points. Behind her was Julia Hunter
with 12. Rounding out the leading scorers were
Nikki Elkins with 5 and Kristin Covert with 5.
Defensively, Anna Kick put forth a great effort
with 6 steals.

The 8th grade BMS Lady Bulldogs defeated Mt.
Carmel by a score of 35 to 24.
The Dogs were led with two players having double
doubles. Samantha Heidlage scored 15 points and
pulled down 16 rebounds while Mary Catherine
Barnett scored 10 points on two 3's and pulled
down 12 rebounds. Sophia Fledderman added a
timely 4th quarter steal and hit both of
her free throws late in the game.
Their season record is 3 and 2. Score by
quarter: BMS: 8, 14, 25, 35. Mt. Carmel:
4, 11, 15, 24.

The 7th grade lady cards went up
against the East Central Trojans, resulting in a
loss 35 – 12.
On the offensive side of the court, Madelyn
Maier was top scorer with 6 points followed by
Kylie Paul and Annie Freese with 4 points each.
On the defensive side of the court,
Isabelle Tuveson and Kylie Paul were top
rebounders with 3 rebounds each.
Next week, the girls take on the
Batesville Bulldogs on Monday, February 6th
on their home court.

The St. Louis 8th grade Lady Cards traveled to
East Cenral to pick up their first win of the
young season 23-17.
Great team defense led by Mary Poltrack and
Hannah Wintz helped the Cardinals to the
victory. Molly Jeffers owned the third quarter,
pouring in 8 of her game-high 11 points in the
frame and leading St. Louis offensively over the
Trojans. Audrey Oesterling pulled down
double-digit rebounds and scored 5 points. Anya
Smith also worked hard in the post, collecting 7
boards and 5 points.
Saturday St. Louis plays St. Nicholas in the
first round of the Oldenburg Classic at 10 AM.

The St. Louis 5th
grade lady Cardinals dueled to a 12 - 12 tie against Mt.
Carmel in over-time.
A much excited game that saw two teams battle back and
forth exchanging baskets and playing head to head to get
an advantage. Offensively, the Cardinals were lead by
Hanna Hurm, Ella Gutzwiller, and Stella Hillenbrand
while defensively, Maddie Reidy and Kate Burkhart headed
up a much balanced attach.
The lady Cardinals will host the Greensburg lady Pirates
next Tuesday. (This is a schedule change as this is
listed as an away game.)
Score by Quarters: 1st – 2-2; 2nd
– Mt. Carmel 5-4; 3rd – Mt. Carmel 7-6;
Final – 10-10; OT – 12-12.

The Batesville Middle School 7th grade
basketball team earned its forth win of the
season against South Dearborn 28-12.
Leading in scoring for the Bulldogs was Sylvia
Phillips with 10 points. Following her were
Nikki Elkins, Julia Hunter, and Kristin Covert
who all contributed. Defensively, Veronica
Williams put forth an excellent effort. The 7th
grade lady dogs are now 4 and 0 on the season.

by a score of 29 to 7.
The Dogs were led in scoring by Maria Cerda with
3 points and Kearstyn Jones and Mary Elkins
added two points.

The 7th grade Lady Cards lost to The
South Ripley Raiders 24-18.
Although ending in a loss, the girls came out
with a strong fight. Top scorer was Madelyn
Maier with 7, Taylor Meyers with 6, Annie Freese
with 3, and Kylie Paul with 2.
Although the girls’ offense wasn’t
strong enough to win the game, the defense was a
win in itself.

South Ripley stole a win from St. Louis Monday
night 29-28.
After a 25-20 lead going into the fourth
quarter, the Cardinals only made 1 of 10 free
throws in the fourth and lost by a single point
in the closing seconds. Even so, St. Louis
played very tough throughout the game and made
South Ripley earn every bit of the one point
victory. St. Louis was led by forward, Audrey
Oesterling's 11 points, and 8 rebounds. Anya
Smith had her best game of the young season
scoring 7 points and grabbing 8 boards of her
own. Molly Jeffers continually broke South
Ripley's press and added 6 points and 3
rebounds. Abby Roell also played fantastically,
getting a basket, as well as 5 big rebounds and
2 steals. Mary Poltrack made a couple of free
throws to round out the scoring. St. Louis
travels to Sunman-Dearborn Thursday night.

St. Louis 6th defeated St. Lawrence 39-12 to
improve to 3-0 this season.

The St. Louis girls 5th
grade improved their record to 2-1 by defeating the St.
Lawrence Panthers by the score of 13 to 10.
Falling behind early, the Cardinals found a way to find
the openings on offense to grab the lead and hold on for
the victory. Hanna Hurm and Kate Poltrack lead the team
offensively while Sarah Preston and Hailey Mohr kept the
Panthers in check defensively. The Cardinals will host
Mt. Carmel on Thursday.

The St. Louis 8th grade boys basketball team
won the Batesville Deanery Tournament defeating
St. Nicholas 45-35.
The Cardinals got strong play from all 10
players. Jacob Koehne led the way with 16
points, 7 rebounds, and 5 steals. Matt Moorman
added 13 points and 3 steals. John Reer got the
Cardinals going in the first quarter, scoring 4
of his 6 points during the period. Jordan Ertel
shut down St. Nicholas's main 3 point threat
while Ben Schwettman also played well
defensively. The 8th graders travel to
Indianapolis on February 12 to compete in the
quarterfinal round of the Indianapolis CYO
Archdiocese tournament. They play St.
Michael's-Brookville at 1 PM at Scecina
HS.

IHSAA ANNOUNCES SECTIONAL HOST SITES FOR SCHOOL
YEAR
IHSAA Commissioner Bobby Cox
announced today the sectional host sites in several team
sports for the 2011-12 school year which have been
approved by the IHSAA Executive Committee. Below are the sectional hosts as determined by the IHSAA
in baseball, boys and girls basketball, boys and girls
soccer, softball and volleyball. Schools interested in
hosting sectional tournaments were invited to apply.
Class 3A: Batesville will be hosting the Girls Basketball, and Softball Sectional 29 events.
Greensburg will be hosting the Boys Basketball and
Baseball Sectional 29 games.
Class 2A: South Ripley will be hosting the
Girls & Boys Basketball, and Baseball
Sectional 45 events.
Switzerland County will be
hosting the Softball Sectional 45 games.
Class 1A:
Jac-Cen-Del will be hosting the Girls Basketball, and Softball Sectional 60
events.
South Decatur will be hosting The Boys
Basketball Sectional 60 games.
Shawe Memorial will
be hosting the Baseball Sectional 60 contests.
Class 4A: Columbus North will be hosting the
Softball Sectional 14 events.
Shelbyville will be hosting the Girls Basketball Sectional
14 games.
Bloomington South will be hosting the Boys
Basketball contests.
